Monte Carlo Modelling: a Reliable and Efficient Tool in Radiation Dosimetry

چکیده

The ENEA Radiation Protection Institute since many years has been playing a reference role in Italy in the radiological protection field for external exposures and for incorporated radionuclides dosimetry both in the industrial and medical activities. A series of laboratories and measurement facilities are in operation in connection with neutron, photon and electron metrology, with the development of personal dosimeters, with the implementation of whole body and “naturally occurring radioactive materials” (NORM) measuring equipments. In all the mentioned fields Monte Carlo modeling has been demonstrating its effectiveness as a valuable tool to support the experiments. The present paper summarizes some studies and applications of the methodology at ENEA Radiation Protection Institute.
